At Cakes by Hibaq in Ottawa, custom celebration cakes start at $80 for a 4" cake, $100 for a 6", and $120 for an 8", and bento cakes start at $20. Cupcakes are $30 a dozen. Those are starting prices for a tall, filled, decorated cake; your final quote depends on the design, toppers, and detail. Send your date and idea for an exact quote.

Yes. Every cake, bento box, and treat from Cakes by Hibaq is made with 100% halal ingredients, from the vanilla and food colours to the gelatine. Halal baking is the whole reason Cakes by Hibaq started, so it is never an afterthought.

Cakes by Hibaq is pickup only right now, from Nepean in Ottawa. Pickup is weekdays after 5pm and weekends all day, by appointment. Your exact pickup address is shared on the day of pickup. We do not deliver at the moment, so please plan to collect your order yourself or send someone on your behalf.

Please order at least 7 days ahead. 5 days is the absolute minimum, and busy weekends around Ottawa (birthdays, graduations, Eid) fill up quickly, so the earlier you reach out the better your chances of getting your date.

As a rough guide, a 4" cake serves about 3 to 4 people, a 6" serves about 8 to 12, and an 8" serves about 16 to 24. A bento cake is sized for one or two. If you tell Hibaq your guest count, she will help you pick the size that fits.

Keep your cake refrigerated in its box until a couple of hours before serving, then let it come to room temperature so the buttercream softens and the flavour comes through. Cakes are best enjoyed within 2 to 3 days of pickup. Keep it away from strong-smelling foods in the fridge, as buttercream picks up odours.

A 50% deposit by Interac e-Transfer confirms your order with Cakes by Hibaq, sent within 48 hours of agreeing the details. The remaining balance can be paid by cash at pickup, or by e-Transfer at least 24 hours before.

If you cancel before baking starts, your deposit is refunded. Once ingredients or custom images have been bought, a cancellation fee applies (or the deposit is kept). Deposits are otherwise non-refundable. Dates can usually be moved with at least 7 days' notice, subject to availability.

Everything is made in a home kitchen in Nepean that also handles nuts, dairy, wheat, and eggs, so we cannot guarantee any item is completely free from cross-contact with those allergens. Please tell Hibaq about any allergies before you order and she will talk it through with you.

Yes. Cakes by Hibaq makes small halal wedding and nikkah cutting cakes and matching cupcakes for intimate Ottawa celebrations, rather than large tiered showpieces. Reach out with your date and vision and Hibaq will help you plan it.
